I am very interested in any possibility of eternal life, since I am afraid of death (plain simple).
The first aspect is living a healthy life, to increase the normal, nature life span as max as possible. That includes nutrition, exercise, etc. No need to write about this, since everyone basically knows what to do.
This is the actually interesting part. While humanity has tried to achieve living forever in the past, it seems that everyone has given up on this topic. Nevertheless, I consider the following areas of research:
This is a list of literature that – as far as I suspect – could be relevant to find more information about the topic.
Volume 1 of “The Great Ideas. A syntopicon of great books of the western world.” by Mortimer. J. Adler has a chapter dedicated to the idea of Immortality.
The Syntopicon might be one of the most important and most forgotten pieces of literature ever created. In case you don’t know it, the editors spent more than 10 years to create an overview of how certain topics – like immportality – have been written about in the western literature traditition.
This is not just something that you could achieve by a Google Search or pdfgrep’ing 2 TB of ebooks today, because they read all the books and included works where words like “Immortality” might not have been mentioned, because the author employed different words to address the same term.
For now, this is not something that a computer or a AI could achieve.
The Syntopicon is available in the internet Archive
